OCEANSIDE, Calif. (May 6, 2025) — Five exciting days of action at the National League Semifinals in Oceanside, Calif., saw 30 girls teams and 30 boys teams qualify for the 2025 USYS National Championships, presented by New York Life.

The games in Oceanside featured top teams in the 14U-19U age groups from the National League’s club-based and team-based divisions, as each competing side earned its place in the event through its performance at quarterfinal events earlier this season.

Many of the coaches and players talked about the value of challenging themselves against National League competition and the confidence that can come from seizing the opportunities available to each team.

“It’s amazing to see these girls go through everything that they go through and the resilience that they have,” said CDA Slammers Elite 64 10G (CA-S) coach Mike McCarty, whose team bounced back after a loss in its opening game. “…Getting them to be able to compete on a big stage is a great experience with great fields, great refereeing, great competition. It’s been a blessing, and we’re excited to get to Florida.”

“Raiders has a deep history of winning everything,” Raiders FC 07 midfielder Gustavo Herrera said. “It’s just that McGuire Cup — that’s what we’re looking for. That’s the one we’ve been looking for at Nationals. We prepare all summer just for this tournament, so you know we’re really excited to get out there and play.”

The 10 champions pool winners represented seven different state associations, as Utah (3) and Ohio (2) were the lone state associations to have multiple winners.

One 2024 USYS National Champion — The FA 2011 Boys Black (NJ) — won a champions pool title, while one additional defending champ — Aspire FC 09B Black (TX-S) — punched its ticket back to the National Championships.
