Top 15U-19U Girls teams compete at National League Orlando 2022

ORLANDO, Fla. (Dec. 14, 2022) — Many of the top 15U-19U Girls teams and players in the US Youth Soccer National League competed Dec. 8-12 in Orlando, Florida. The event featured teams from both National League P.R.O. and Elite 64, and all games took place at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex.

The National League P.R.O. games each counted toward league standings, as teams began their pursuits of top-of-the-table finishes that can result in direct advancement to the 2023 USYS National Championships. Combined with the excitement of top talent from Elite 64 clubs matching up during the weekend, National League Orlando provided a great atmosphere for youth soccer.

“Honestly, for our club, this has been the best showcase we’ve been to,” said Claire Ward, Girls Director of Coaching for Fort Wayne United of Elite 64. “The competition has been great across the board. We brought our 15s, 16s, 17s and 19s. All the games were very, very good.

“And then just the experience — you look around at where they’re playing at. Every day, we remind the girls to be thankful to play at such an amazing place like this. And then to get out of Indiana and play against different competition is just fantastic.”

Recap some of the NL P.R.O. matchups and performances from Orlando…

15U Girls

After a challenging opening half, KC Fusion Academy 08 (KS) went on the front foot to secure a 4-1 victory against Georgia Impact SC 08G Elite (GA) in 15U Group A action on Dec. 10.

It took just three minutes for KC to go in front, as Jenna Lloyd found the back of the net. However, Georgia’s Addison Bendzsuk picked out the far corner with a perfect placement on a free kick to equalize in the 28th minute, and the Impact looked likeliest to get a second in a strong finish to the opening 40 minutes.

KC came out motivated to start the second half and netted a pair of nearly identical goals by Georgia Goodwin, who finished at the near post following corner kicks. The Fusion spent much of the remainder of the game in the attacking half, and Ella Coup slotted a 70th-minute strike just inside the far post to cap the 4-1 victory.

The win helped KC move to 3-0-0 in a crowded top half of the table that saw four teams leave Orlando undefeated. Galaxy 2008 Girls Blue (IL) and FC Somers Lady Hammers (NY-E) each join KC Fusion in a three-way tie for first on nine points.

16U Girls

A pair of unbeaten 16U Group D teams met on Dec. 12, as KHA North 2007G Red (OH) and Chattanooga Red Wolves 07G (TN) looked to gain an upper hand in their National League P.R.O. group title race. A pair of first-half goals fueled KHA’s 2-1 win that helped it remain in prime position to contend for first place in Group D.

Paige Martin put KHA in front when she found the back of the net in the 15th minute. The Ohio side managed to add to its lead in the final minutes of the first half, as Ashley Yontz netted a goal to put KHA in front, 2-0.

Each side had its moments in the attack in the final 40 minutes, and Chattanooga managed to pull back a goal through an Aireanna Williams strike in the 58th minute. The last quarter of the game included multiple movements by Chattanooga into the KHA penalty area, but the KHA back line did well to prevent any high-quality looks at goal, as the Ohio side secured the 2-1 win.

KHA joins Coppermine SC Girls 2007 Elite 64 (MD) at 3-0-0 in Group D.

17U Girls

Yankee United FC Attack (CT) came back with two late goals to edge Alliance FC 06 Academy Girls (MO), 3-2, in an intense 17U Group B matchup on Dec. 12 in Orlando.

Yankee United jumped in front in just the third minute on a Sara Parker strike, but Alliance responded with an 11th-minute tally by Berkleigh Salmond. The Missouri side grabbed the lead shortly before halftime when Mia Cole found the far corner with her shot from the right side of the box.

Alliance battled to hold its lead for much of the second half, but Parker placed a rebound into the roof of the net to pull Yankee United event in the 82nd minute. Parker finished off the comeback and her personal hat trick with a run through the Alliance back line that allowed her to slide her shot past the keeper to give the Connecticut side the 3-2 win.

Yankee United is tied in first place with DMV FC 2006 Blue (VA) on nine points apiece.

18U Girls

Two of NL P.R.O.’s top 18U Group A sides — SBMC 05 (NY-E) and FC Dayton G05 (OH) — met on the last day of National League Orlando with a chance to pick up crucial points.

SBMC started the game off dominant, controlling possession and ultimately scoring first. Sophia Campites’ goal in the 5th minute was well deserved, but the lead didn’t last long. FC Dayton’s Morgan Sparks capitalized on an SBMC defensive miscue in the 13th minute to bring the two sides level again.

Contributing to a wild first half, Grace Lien gave SBMC the lead again 10 minutes later after a perfect chip-shot found the back of the net.

FC Dayton was intent on finishing NL Orlando strong, though, and did so in the second half. Alyssa Unver scored in the 60th minute to bring the two sides even, and then Ava Pfarrer scored the game-winner in the 80th minute to finish the comeback. SBMC and FC Dayton both sit in second place of Group A with six points, one point behind leader LFA Tottleben 2005G (MO).

19U Girls

Coming off NL P.R.O. wins on their opening day in Orlando, both FC Dallas Youth 04 North Black Premier (TX-N) and STA MUSC 04/05G NL (NJ) were pursuing a perfect start to their 19U Group C campaign. In a very evenly matched game, each team found the net once as they settled for a point apiece in a 1-1 draw.

After a scoreless first half, STA broke through in the 53rd minute when Courtney Schiereck dribbled through the FC Dallas back line and found the back of the net for the opening goal. STA tried to extend its lead, but FC Dallas hit back in the 76th minute on an Emily Lau goal that tied the game at 1-1.

Neither team sat back in the last quarter-hour, as both sides advanced into dangerous positions in search of a game-winner. However, the defenses held strong and the game ended level at 1-1.

After Orlando, STA currently leads Group C with 7 points, while FC Dallas finished with 4 points from its three games. Penn FC Youth 04G Lightning (PA-E) is the lone team in Group C yet to drop points, and it has a game-in-hand on STA.

Recap some of the Elite 64 matchups that took place in Orlando…

15U Girls

Coming off a very competitive fall season, Legends FC Elite 64 08G experienced much of the same on Thursday in a scoreless draw against Coppermine SC Elite 64 08G in Orlando.

Coppermine enjoyed periods when it possessed the ball in its attacking third, but the Legends defense held strong. As the game entered the final 10 minutes, play opened up and both sides created scoring chances.

Legends, which had an even goal differential through 13 E64 Midwest games, came closest to breaking through when Alexis Martin sent a free kick off the underside of the bar, but it stayed out. Minutes later, Coppermine found the back of the net but an offside flag negated the goal. Coppermine keeper Elizabeth Wezel came off her line to stop a breakaway goal, and teammate Sophia Adams hit the near post following a slaloming run, as the game ended 0-0.

Legends went on to win its final two games in Orlando, while Coppermine dropped a couple of close matches.

16U Girls

In 16U Elite 64 action, Lobos Rush Elite 64 07G and FC Copa Academy Elite 64 07G finished their time in Orlando with a well-played game that ultimately finished in a scoreless draw.

Lobos came close to going in front early in the second half when Alivia Howard ran in front of the near post on a corner kick, but her acrobatic volley narrowly missed being on frame. The Tennessee side generated plenty of attacking chances, with Presley Williams playing a key role in initiating the offense from a central midfield role.

On the other end of the field, FC Copa also created some prime chances through Taylor Green. She nearly directed a cross inside the back post in the 55th minute but saw it go just wide. And near the end of regulation, Green sent a powerful drive from distance just wide of the same post.

With the draw, Lobos 07G finished with 7 points in Orlando, while FC Copa secured 4 points.

17U Girls

On the last day of play at National League Orlando, Strikers FC North Elite 64 06G and Total Futbol Academy Elite 64 06G — the two top sides in 17U Group F — went head-to-head. Strikers was looking to close out the week undefeated after securing wins in its first two games, while TFA looked to make up ground on the group leaders.

TFA opened the game strong, dominating possession and controlling the tempo of the match, but couldn’t find a goal to reward their play. Strikers FC North showed poise to adjust its gameplan and were better off for it. Karen Pedraza-Carino took advantage of one of the first true opportunities for Strikers, putting her side in front 1-0 just before halftime.

TFA’s Elizabeth Woelfel made her mark in the second half, tying the game with a goal in the 57th minute, but Strikers FC North took the lead back immediately. Bella Keith’s 60th minute goal put Strikers back in front — for good — and finished off an undefeated week for the group leaders.

18/19U Girls

Match Fit Academy FC Elite 64 04/05G and Rockford Raptors FC Elite 64 04/05G came into their showdown on Dec. 10 level on points in Elite 64’s 19U Group E, with both sides looking to move ahead of their opposition.

Rockford’s Lilly Coats got the scoring started in this fun matchup, a strike in the 22nd minute. It was the first half’s only tally, but there were more fireworks to follow. Bridgett Morrison leveled the match for Match Fit in the 50th minute with a goal, but Rockford was quick to take the lead back. Morgan Rudowicz restored the lead just three minutes later to cap off a riveting three-minute stretch.

It looked like Rockford would escape with a win and all three points, but Match Fit Academy hung in there and found a second equalizer. Ellianna Caporusso’s goal in the 79th minute was the final score in this game and kept both sides level on points in Orlando.

Top 13U-14U Boys teams compete at National League Round Rock 2022

ROUND ROCK, Texas (Nov. 16, 2022) — Many of the top 13U and 14U Boys teams and players in the US Youth Soccer National League competed Nov. 11-14 in Round Rock, Texas. The event featured teams from both National League P.R.O. and Elite 64.

The National League P.R.O. games all counted toward league standings, as teams began their pursuits of top-of-the-table finishes that can result in direct advancement to the 2023 USYS National Championships. Combined with the excitement of top talent from Elite 64 clubs matching up during the weekend, National League Round Rock provided a great atmosphere for youth soccer.

“I want our players to face teams from different part of the U.S. because we want to see how the level is like outside of our league,” said DUSC 09 Blue (NY-E) coach Eglusel Adili following his team’s win in a matchup of unbeaten National League P.R.O. sides. “I think this is the toughest league in the U.S. Competing here for a team is very important to know where the teams are and where our level is. This tells us how much we have to work and where we need to do better. It’s very important.”

LOOK BACK: NATIONAL LEAGUE P.R.O.

Group A:

DUSC B2009 Blue (NY-E) and Sporting Columbus Boys 2009 I (OH) each used stout defensive efforts to come away from Round Rock with three wins apiece. Both sides conceded just once during the action in Texas, and DUSC came away with a slight edge in overall goal differential to climb to the top of the standings. DUSC and Sporting will face off in the last game in Tampa, which could prove to be the deciding factor for the group title.

Group B:

Just one team came away from Round Rock unscathed in Group B, as Team Boca 09 Boys White (FL) went 3-0-0 while scoring eight goals and conceding just one. Club Ohio 09B National (OH) recorded three clean sheets while picking up two wins and a draw, and it sits just behind Team Boca in the standings. BVB International Academy Pittsburgh 09B Premier (PA-W) was the only other team in the group to secure two wins in Texas and is currently in third place.

Group C:

The smallest margins separate all the teams in Group C, as no team is more than three away from an even goal differential after three days of play.  Oregon Premier FC 09B Academy (OR) is currently in first place with 7 points in the standings after two wins and a draw in Round Rock. Barca Academy PRO Miami (FL) is just one point back but has played an extra game, managing a win and three draws. Many of the games in Tampa will greatly impact which teams punch tickets to the National Championships.

Group D:

3RSC B09 Black (WA) leads a crowded group of challengers in Group D with nine points after going undefeated in Round Rock, but Capital City SC 09B Sky South (TX-S), EBU U14B Elite 09 (WI), and KC Legends 2009 Academy (KS) are all just one game back. Tampa’s matches will prove to be vital, as 3RSC faces off against EBU and Capital City.

“It’s very valuable to start with two wins, but the goal is to get to Nationals so we’ve got five more to go,” 3RSC coach Omar Madrigal said after the team’s second win in Round Rock. “We’re excited and starting to believe in ourselves. We’re a small team from a small town, and we see we’re capable of fighting against anyone.”

Group E:

Three teams — Galaxy SC 2009 MWC (IL), Liverpool FCIA Ann Arbor 09B Academy (MI), and Hoosier FC 2009 Elite Wolves (IN) — are level with seven points at the top of the leaderboards after two wins and a draw in Round Rock, but Galaxy holds the goal-differential advantage. February is a pivotal month for Group E, as Galaxy and Liverpool will square off in Tampa with the top of the group on the line.

Recap some of the notable Elite 64 matchups that took place in Round Rock…

Saturday:

Sparta United Elite 64 10B and Ohio Galaxies FC Elite 64 10B entered their matchup on Saturday with perfect records in Elite 64 — at 6-0-0 and 7-0-0 in their respective standings. That quality shined through in their game in Round Rock, as Sparta edged Galaxies, 1-0.

Sparta spent most of the first half in the attacking half and put several attempts on target, but Ohio managed to keep the Utah side from breaking through. That changed in the second half, as Derek Chavez curled a 42nd-minute shot just beyond the outstretched arms of the Ohio keeper — providing the difference in the Sparta victory.

“It’s really nice to come out here and have a team that can play at a high level, put on a lot more pressure, and play in a different way than we’re used to,” Sparta coach Justus Koelliker said. “It’s very valuable for us and helps us to get better.”

United Futbol Academy Elite 64 10B (GA) and Michigan Tigers FC Elite 64 10B (MI) squared off in Round Rock after impressive starts to their Elite 64 campaigns, with the former 7-0-1 and latter 5-1-0. Saturday’s matchup displayed all of the talent that led to those records, but the Tigers impressed with a 3-1 win.

Dane Behm opened the scoring for the Michigan side in the second minute, catching United Futbol Academy early. Kaden Cahill doubled his team’s’ lead in the 18th minute, and even though both teams had chances that they couldn’t capitalize on, the score remained that way until the second half.

Michigan Tigers’ talented forward, Jason Kopera, added his first — and the team’s third — in the 50th minute to cap off a strong performance and a good start to the weekend in Round Rock. Julian Rodriguez-Martinez clawed one back for United Futbol Academy two minutes later, but his side couldn’t muster up a comeback.

Sunday:

Liverpool FC-IA Michigan Elite 64 10B (MI) used an early goal to earn a hard-fought win over Valor Soccer Elite 64 10B (VA) during the second day of Elite 64 action in Round Rock.

The third-minute goal — a first-time, left footed shot — from Jackson Ober found the side netting and put his team in front for good after he connected with a cross. Liverpool ran its offense through Joseph Meteer and came close to finding a second, but the Valor defense locked in and held a potent offense, which scored six goals in its first game in Texas, to one.

PDA Elite 64 09B (NJ) and East County Surf Soccer Club Elite 64 09B (CA-S) squared off in a closely contested National League Elite 64 matchup on Sunday night in Round Rock, with the latter winning 2-1.

Oscar Serrano opened up the scoring in the 15th minute to put Surf in front. The goal opened the game up and the rest of the half saw the two teams trading chances, but neither able to add the second.

PDA gave itself life in the second half, with goalkeeper Leon Bernewitz saving a breakaway, and his heroics were rewarded soon after. Jackson Kuoh converted a penalty kick to level the game in the 43rd minute, but Surf had an answer minutes later. Angel Alexander Villatoro slotted home the go-ahead goal, which proved to be enough for his side to take all three points.

Monday:

A couple late goals helped Madison 56ers Elite 64 10B pull away for a 4-0 win against Tigres San Antonio Elite 64 10B to complete an unbeaten weekend of Elite 64 action in Round Rock.

Armando Sanchez Herrera scored the lone first-half goal to put Madison in front. Tigres keeper Hideki Uno made several strong saves early in the second half to keep his side within a goal, but a deflected shot led to a second Madison goal in the 36th minute.

Following a hand ball in the box, Cormac Carlson converted a penalty kick to extend the 56ers’ lead to 3-0. The Wisconsin side sealed its victory when Aaron Lara headed a corner kick off the underside of the bar for the final goal in the 4-0 victory.

Madison will look to carry over its form from Round Rock when it aims to build on its 3-3-0 record in Elite 64 league play.

In a tense matchup of Elite 64 play on Monday in Round Rock, Real Colorado Elite 64 10B and Idaho Rush Soccer Club Elite 64 10B played to a scoreless draw after neither side could separate itself.

Real Colorado’s goalkeeper Cohen Teets was pivotal in keeping the score level during the first half, stopping a breakaway that looked like it would give his side a deficit and put Idaho Rush in front.

In a back-and-forth second half, both Real Colorado and Idaho Rush traded chances while attempting to find a breakthrough, but the defenses stifled all chances.

Michigan Jaguars Elite 64 09B and Princeton SA Elite 64 09B combined for four wins in as many games over the weekend, and the two sides matched up on Monday in their finale in Round Rock.

Colton Papalexis put the Jaguars in front in the opening minute, and Evan Scirri doubled the advantage when he slid his left-footed shot around the keeper in the 8th minute. Princeton began to get its footing, but Michigan earned a penalty kick just after the break, and Austin Scheel converted to extend the Jaguars’ lead to 3-0.

Princeton came close to cutting into the lead a few times and eventually broke through in the 45th minute. Anri Imerlishvili ran on to a ball behind the Michigan back line and struck a composed finish inside the far post. That proved to be a consolation goal, as the Jaguars held on for the 3-1 victory.

ROUND ROCK, Texas (Nov. 8, 2022) — Many of the top 13U and 14U Girls teams and players in the US Youth Soccer National League competed Nov. 4-7 in Round Rock, Texas. The event featured teams from both National League P.R.O. and Elite 64.

The North Texas side used a strong offense to propel its hot start, tallying seven goals during the opening games. They’ll look to hold off a bevy of teams with five points, including PPA 2009 Green Girls (MD), Lonestar 09G FDL (TX-S), and Wasatch SC 09G PO (UT).

“The competition has been great,” Wasatch coach Pat Otte said after three days of play. “We came here not knowing what to expect because these are all new teams for us. Every single game we’ve played this weekend has been extremely competitive.”

14U Group B:

It’s been great.”

Recap some of the notable Elite 64 matchups that took place in Round Rock…

Saturday:

In a challenging matchup, Team Boca Elite 64 10G came back to claim a 2-1 win against Princeton SA Elite 64 10G in a well-played game on Saturday in Round Rock.

Princeton jumped in front in the 7th minute thanks to a Sophia Orellano goal, but Team Boca pushed back and earned an equalizer in the 20th minute. Ella Presnell took the ball on a turn just inside the attacking half and drove down the left side. Her shot was saved well by the Princeton keeper, but Kiana Sanchez hit home the rebound to tie the game.

Team Boca went ahead in the 33rd minute behind a Delfina Banegas tally, and that proved to be the game-winner, as the Florida side withstood significant Princeton pressure to secure the 2-1 win.

“We don’t get the luxury of seeing a lot of teams at this level of competition, so to come here and get that level is well worth it for the players to gain that experience,” Team Boca coach Billy Ramos said.

Sunday:

In two Elite 64 games in Round Rock, GTFC Impact Elite 64 09G has proved to be organized and strong defensively — coming away with two clean sheet victories. The latest win came in a very tightly contested match on Sunday, as GTFC defeated FC Westlake Elite 64 09G, 1-0.

Neither side managed to break through in the first half, despite each team generating some pressure on the opposing goal. Layla Mochon broke the deadlock with a 45th-minute goal, and that proved to be the difference between the teams.

“The competition and organization have been great for us,” GTFC coach Mike Aubry said. “It’s been really valuable for our kids to come and have a professional environment to showcase their abilities… That’s the great thing about our country — you go five states over and everything is completely different because they have different weather, ways of playing, or cultures. Getting to see all of that and having to solve different problems every game is the best part about this.”

Monday:

Bayside FC Elite 64 09G defeated East County Surf Soccer Club Elite 64 09G, 3-0, on Monday in a matchup of teams that earned decisive wins during their first two days in Round Rock.

After Surf held off consistent Bayside pressure in the first half, the Rhode Island side finally broke through with a pair of excellent goals shortly after the break. In the 36th minute, Danika Denham swung in a cross behind the Surf back line and Allie Scott hit a half-volley off the inside of the right post to give Bayside the 1-0 advantage.

Just two minutes later, Sara Nencka hit a clean strike from the top of the box that flew in under the crossbar to extend Bayside’s lead to 2-0. Sophia Alves capped off the 3-0 win when she placed her 57th-minute shot inside the near post — helping Bayside finish its weekend in Round Rock with three victories and three clean sheets.

North Shore United Elite 64 10G and Team Boca Elite 64 10G each entered the weekend in first place in their respective Elite 64 league standings, and both sides put in strong showings in Round Rock. The two teams met on Monday in Round Rock and played to a scoreless draw.

The flow of the game favored North Shore, as the Wisconsin side spent much of the match in the attacking half and had a significant edge in shots on goal. However, Team Boca keeper Ava Rizzardi made several quality saves to help keep the shutout and force the tie.

“It’s a great experience for our kids to come here and play some of the best teams in the country,” North Shore coach Joe Hammes said. “There are big-time players on both sides of the ball. It was an even game, back and forth. I thought their keeper stood on her head and played amazingly. That’s what you get at this level. You get big-time players making big-time plays.”

STATSports celebrate Elite 64 top performances with weekly leaderboards

STATSports’ exciting partnership with US Youth Soccer’s new Elite 64 program has hit the ground running, with new Leaderboards displaying performance data from some of the most talented youth players in the United States.

Every game is a recruitable moment, and in the initial data to be released this week via the use of STATSports’ Apex Athlete Series GPS tracking technology, we can see who the fastest youth players across the country are — tracking Max Speed in each age group from 14U through 19U.

Modern soccer players need to be athletic, as well as technically gifted, and Max Speed is often one of the most popular stats for players and coaches to monitor, as it accurately shows who has hit the fastest speed during games.

Barry Watters, STATSports Head of Sports Science, said: “This early data shows some really impressive numbers across the age groups that have been competing so far. It’s widely acknowledged that speed is becoming more important at the top levels of the game, so for these players to be able to compare themselves to fellow players across the country is a really important benchmark for comparison.”

Elite 64 is the new elite club-based competition within the USYS National League. It brings the top clubs and players together for an enhanced experience, which — thanks to technology partners like STATSports — provides interactive data and opportunities for all participants. The STATSports and Elite 64 link-up allows players across the Elite 64 to show off their abilities through every fixture, making every single game a recruitable moment via GPS performance data.

Global leaders in GPS tracking technology and official monitoring device of U.S. Soccer Federation, STATSports are working with US Youth Soccer to highlight all of the best performers across Elite 64, allowing players to build out their own athletic profiles based on the performance stats gathered during their Elite 64 games. Comparisons across Total Distance, High Speed Running, and High Intensity Distance will also be available in future weeks, allowing players, coaches, and scouts to track the stats across multiple key physical performance indicators, as these players compete throughout the season.

Alongside benchmarking against players of their own age group, those using STATSports’ Apex Athlete Series GPS Tracker can also compare their performance to some of the top professional soccer players in the world, including Harry Kane, Alex Morgan, Raheem Sterling and Megan Rapinoe.

About the first metric…

MAX SPEED

Max speed is the maximum velocity a player can sprint in a session, measured in either meters per second (m/s), miles per hour (mph), or kilometers per hour (kph).

Max speeds are hit within the 20-meter to 40-meter distance range, and achieving a max speed at least once per week reduces the risk of hamstring injuries.

Players like Kylian Mbappe (38 kph/23.61 mph), Raheem Sterling (37.30 kph/23.18 mph), and Erling Haaland (36.04 kph/22.39 mph) are some of the fastest soccer players in the world.

In STATSports x Elite 64 Leaderboards, we have used session data from players that has been saved from matches where data has been recorded as “Gameday.”  We have displayed this in mph on the Leaderboards so that all players can see what they’re competing against throughout the season.
