FRISCO, Texas (June 12, 2025) — The National League is excited to announce the dates and locations for its winter events for the 2025-26 season. Each winter event will take place at the Arizona Athletic Grounds, in Mesa, Ariz.

The winter events are open to only teams playing The National League in the 2025-26 season, and team applications are now being accepted for the events. All teams must apply to participate in a winter event, and the deadline to apply is Aug. 8, 2025.

Each participating team will play at one of the two event options. Competition is available for boys and girls teams that are playing in the 14U, 15U, 16U, 17U and 19U age groups during the 2025-26 youth soccer season.

Teams will be accepted for the winter events based on their history of performance — giving any applying team the chance to earn its way into the highly competitive field. Within each age group, 40 total teams will compete in the winter events, with the teams divided evenly among two events (20 teams per event).

At the events, teams are split into five groups of four, and each team plays its three group opponents over three days. Teams earn 3 points for a win, 1 point for a draw and 0 points for a loss.

Teams that finish in first place in their four-team group will advance to the 2026 USYS National Championships as a National League representative. Teams that finish in second place in their four-team group at the winter events will earn a spot into The NL Cup at the end of the 2025-26 season.

FRISCO, Texas (May 14, 2025) — After an exciting 2024-25 event season, 120 teams from The National League have secured their place in the 2025 USYS National Championships, presented by New York Life.

The National League representatives — featuring boys and girls teams in the 14U-19U age groups — will join representatives from the upcoming USYS Regional Championships to compete at the National Championships, which take place July 22-27 in Orlando, Fla.

Each National League team that qualified for Nationals did so by proving itself against some of the top competition in the country. A field of more than 780 teams started at the National League Quarterfinals level and eventually pared down to the 120 sides that punched their tickets to Nationals through top performances at one of the two National League Semifinal events.

“The semifinals in Texas, and California each featured great performances, and the teams battling to secure their place at the National Championships added even more excitement to great environments,” said Marc Frankland, National League General Manager. “Congratulations to all the teams that are moving on to Nationals, and thanks to everyone who contributed to a great National League event season.”

OCEANSIDE, Calif. (May 6, 2025) — Five exciting days of action at the National League Semifinals in Oceanside, Calif., saw 30 girls teams and 30 boys teams qualify for the 2025 USYS National Championships, presented by New York Life.

The games in Oceanside featured top teams in the 14U-19U age groups from the National League’s club-based and team-based divisions, as each competing side earned its place in the event through its performance at quarterfinal events earlier this season.

Many of the coaches and players talked about the value of challenging themselves against National League competition and the confidence that can come from seizing the opportunities available to each team.

“It’s amazing to see these girls go through everything that they go through and the resilience that they have,” said CDA Slammers Elite 64 10G (CA-S) coach Mike McCarty, whose team bounced back after a loss in its opening game. “…Getting them to be able to compete on a big stage is a great experience with great fields, great refereeing, great competition. It’s been a blessing, and we’re excited to get to Florida.”

14U Girls

Champions Pool

As the lone unbeaten team from the December quarterfinals, Hex FC Dominion 11G (PA-E) will look to continue its run of success when it heads to Oceanside. The Eastern PA side received contributions from all positions on the field — scoring four goals in one win, while relying on shutouts to secure its other two results.

Three other teams picked up multiple wins in December, including Group B winners, The Football Academy 11G Silver (NJ), which rebounded from an opening loss by securing two one-goal wins. Meanwhile, Impact GFC G11 (OH) and St. Croix 11G Academy NL (MN) each displayed offensive prowess en route to second-place finishes in their groups in December.

If CDA Slammers Elite 64 11G (CA-S) can reignite its form from the November quarterfinals, when it won three straight games to claim the champions pool title, it will be a difficult matchup for any opponent in Oceanside. The Slammers scored three goals in each game, including a 3-2 win in the pool final against AYSO United Elite 64 11G (CA-S), whose potent offense could also cause issues for opposing defenses at the semifinals.

Wildcard Pool

An unbeaten showing in the wildcard pool at the November quarterfinals should give So Cal Blues Elite 64 11G (CA-S) confidence of producing a repeat showing this week in Oceanside. The Cal South side was challenged — including a one-goal win and a victory in penalties — and can draw from that experience in similar situations this weekend.

Champions Pool

Of the attending teams that qualified via the December quarterfinals, St. Louis Stars SC 11B Academy Red (MO) led the way with two wins and a draw. The Stars won their group while earning points in some close contests — an experience that should benefit them when they compete in Oceanside.

The Football Academy NJ 11B Black (NJ) also won its group in December and will be a tough matchup for any opponent in California. The Football Academy’s lone defeat came at the hands of Washington Rush B11 NL (WA), which finished second in the group with an unbeaten record of one win and two draws — indicating it will be a challenge to get past in the semifinals.

Having already successfully navigated a bracket format during the November quarterfinals, Nona FC Elite 64 11B (FL) will aim for more of the same this weekend. The Florida side capped its November run by defeating Tuzos Elite 64 11B (AZ) on penalties in a very close game.

Wildcard Pool

If Team Chicago 11 Boys Elite 64 RL (IL) comes close to replicating its November quarterfinals performance when it travels to Oceanside, that may be enough to qualify for the National Championships. The Illinois side won the wildcard pool in November, and it did so with three decisive wins that saw it outscore opponents, 12-to-0.

Champions Pool

After compiling an unblemished record at the November quarterfinals, City SC Utah Elite 64 10G (UT) has the looks of a serious contender for the champions pool title this weekend in Oceanside. The Utah side scored nine goals at the November event and conceded none, as it exhibited a complete all-around game that makes it a difficult matchup.

Team Challenger FC G10 Black (OH) was just as impressive during its performance at the December quarterfinals, when it won its group while outscoring its opponents, 12-to-1. Team Challenger’s 3-0-0 mark was matched at that event by PPA 10G Green (MD), which navigated the challenges that come with national events by winning twice by a one-goal margin.

PSA Monmouth 10G (NJ) and Ambassadors FC 10G (OH) tied for the top spot in their group at the December quarterfinals, and they’ll each look to build off that performance when they compete at the semifinals.

Wildcard Pool

A few teams should enter the semifinals feeling confident about their chances to secure a berth to Nationals from the wildcard pool. Cook Inlet SC Elite 64 10G (AK) and Sporting California Elite 64 10G (CA-S) both exceled at the November quarterfinals, which ended with Cook Inlet defeating Sporting in penalties following a scoreless draw. Those two sides may need to get past Chattanooga FC 10G Navy (TN), which led all December teams with 16 goals scored.

Champions Pool

At the December quarterfinals, both Barca Academy Pro Miami 10B (FL) and KBSC Elite 2010 (FL) went 3-0-0 to win their groups. Barca produced the age group’s most potent attack, as it averaged four goals per game, while KBSC wasn’t far behind — scoring 10 times in its three games.

The Football Academy 10B Black (NJ) also won its group in December. The New Jersey side split two close games before a dominant win in its final quarterfinal matchup — sending warning signs to potential semifinal opponents to avoid letting The Football Academy hit its stride in Oceanside.

Meanwhile, Sparta Elite 64 10B (UT) passed several challenging tests en route to winning the champions pool at the November quarterfinals. The Utah side had to play through high-pressure situations, including a penalty shootout win in the pool final, so it shouldn’t be phased by adversity in Oceanside.

Silver Pool

Despite finishing second in its group at the December quarterfinals, Tuzos Tucson Academy 10B E64 (AZ) tied for the largest goal differential in the age group by scoring nine goals and conceding just one. That type of performance in Oceanside could help the Arizona side secure a berth to the National Championships.

J.A.E Academy 10B (NJ) knows the level of play needed in Oceanside to clinch a spot in the National Championships, and it doesn’t need to look further than its performance in November. The New Jersey side won the wildcard pool at the quarterfinals, where it won each game by multiple goals.

Wildcard Pool

After picking up two wins from three very close games at the November quarterfinals, Oceanside Breakers Elite 64 10B (CA-S) is familiar with the tight margins that can determine a berth to Nationals.

After winning their quarterfinal groups, both Club Ohio Dayton 09G Elite (OH) and Utah Surf 09G Cheshire (UT) have their eyes set on a run at the champions pool title in Oceanside. Both teams won all three games at their quarterfinal event in shutout fashion. They’ll aim to compile similar results this week, but plenty of challengers await.

FIERCE 09G (TX-S) knows the value of every goal, as it narrowly held off HEX FC Dominion 09G (PA-E) to win its group at the December quarterfinals. Both sides showed they could make a deep run in Oceanside.

Having already shown its ability to succeed in a bracket format, East County Surf Elite 64 09G (CA-S) will look to do the same in the semifinals champions pool. The Cal South side won the champions pool at the November quarterfinals, and it outscored its opponents 10-to-1 in the process.

Wildcard Pool

Three shutouts in as many games at the November quarterfinals powered Cook Inlet SC Elite 64 09G (AK) to the wildcard pool title. If it can come close to replicating that performance when it competes in Oceanside, the Alaska side will put itself in position to capture a berth to the National Championships.

In a group with several teams who could stake a claim to be the favorite in the champions pool, Aspire FC 09B Black (TX-S) managed to stick out. The defending National Champions went 3-0-0 at the December quarterfinals, led by a high-powered offense that netted 15 goals. Aspire has proven it can score in bunches on the national stage, and it will attempt to do so again in Oceanside.

Several worthy challengers await Aspire, including KC Legends 09B Academy Red (KS) and Raiders FC 2009 (IL). Both sides won their groups at the December quarterfinals with 3-0-0 records, as they outscored opponents by nine goals and seven goals, respectively. ASA Juventus Elite 2009 (MD) also recorded an unbeaten record in December and should not be overlooked.

Another team that could challenge for the champions pool title is Los Angeles Soccer Elite 64 09B (CA-S). The Cal South side accomplished that very feat at the November quarterfinals, when it sandwiched a pair of three-goal victories around a penalty shootout win — showing it can come out on top in various game scripts.

Silver Pool

Strikers Miami FC Elite 64 09B (FL) and XL Atletico E64 B09 (WA) each won all three of their silver pool games at the November quarterfinals. Strikers was especially sharp, as it outscored its opponents 10-to-1 over the course of that event. It will aim to do more of the same in Oceanside, where every goal could play a huge part in determining the group winner.

Wildcard Pool

Coming off a resounding performance at the November quarterfinals, Sporting California Elite 64 09B (CA-S) may be a contender to win the wildcard pool in Oceanside. The Cal South side was dominant in its three games in Mesa, where it shut out each of its opponents while registering 15 goals scored. It will need to continue to play at that high level to secure a berth to the National Championships in a challenging group in Oceanside.

Champions Pool

Four teams in the champions pool are heading to Oceanside with pristine records in the quarterfinals, and that group is led by Ambassadors FC 08G (OH). The Ohio side won its group at the December quarterfinals by winning all three games by identical 3-0 score lines, as it controlled all areas of the field.

Impact United Elite 64 08G (UT) compiled a similar showing in December, as it scored five goals and conceded none en route to winning its group. Impact also won the wildcard pool at the November quarterfinals, so it’s known nothing but success at events this season. PCU 08G Red 1 (OR) is another quarterfinal group winner to watch in Oceanside after its potent attack powered it to a 3-0-0 record at the December event.

Not to be overlooked, Los Angeles Soccer Elite 64 08G (CA-S) has already maneuvered through a challenging tournament format, as it won the champions pool at the November quarterfinals. LASC secured two wins by 2-1 scorelines, so it will be familiar with the pressure of close contests in win-and-advance scenarios.

Wildcard Pool

After an impressive showing in the wildcard pool at the November quarterfinals, Cook Inlet SC Elite 64 08G (AK) will aim to take the next step this weekend in Oceanside. The Alaska side secured clean sheet victories in its first two quarterfinal matches and showed it can hang with any team when it plays up to its potential.

Champions Pool

The field of teams set to compete in the champions pool in Oceanside includes four sides that won all of their games at their respective quarterfinal events. MFA Revolution GR 08B Elite (MI) leads the way, as it won its group in December by shining on both ends of the field — scoring 10 times while conceding just once.

Players 08B Elite (NV) nearly matched MFA, as the Nevada side’s attack grew stronger in each December matchup to complement a stifling defense that conceded just two goals. Meanwhile, Croatian Eagles E64 RL 08B (WI) showed fight in its journey to a perfect record in December, as it earned two victories by one-goal margins. Familiarity with high-pressure situations is something Nona FC Elite 64 08B (FL) possesses, as the Florida side won multiple close matchups en route to the champions pool title at the November quarterfinals. Nona started that event by winning 1-0 and finished it with a victory in penalties. Given the talent in the champions pool in Oceanside, the eventual pool winner may need to go through a similar path to the title.

Silver Pool

Based strictly on performances at the quarterfinals, Excel Soccer Academy Elite 64 08B (AZ) may be the team to keep an eye on in the silver pool. The Arizona side put together three dominant showings at the November quarterfinals, when it recorded clean sheets in each of its games and registered 12 total goals.

Don’t overlook Liverpool FCIA Central MD 08B (MD), whose 13 goals scored in December led all teams advancing to Oceanside from that event.

Wildcard Pool

With three dominant wins at the November quarterfinals, Strikers Miami FC 08 Elite (FL) has positioned itself as a serious contender in the wildcard pool when it heads to Oceanside. Miami shut out each of its opponents in Mesa, and its attack provided plenty of firepower, as it scored 14 total goals. That same form may be needed this weekend, as several challengers await in the semifinals.

Champions Pool

There are different routes to success, as evidenced by the contrasting styles used by IMG Premier Girls (FL) and Solar South 06/07G Adames FDL (TX-N) en route to unbeaten showings at the December quarterfinals. IMG won its group using a high-scoring attack the helped it to the best goal differential in the age group, while Solar conceded just one goal in its three games. Those strengths will make each team a challenge for any opponent in Oceanside.

Global Sports Academy 07G (ID) also exhibited an ability to play under pressure, as it secured a 3-0 win on the last day of the December event to clinch first in a very competitive group. At the November quarterfinals, City SC Utah Elite 64 06/07G (UT) showed its own resilient capabilities, as it won its opener on penalties and earned a close 2-1 win in its final game to win the champions pool. These teams have already passed tough tests but more await in Oceanside.

Wildcard Pool

A repeat of its November quarterfinals showing would be just what Cook Inlet SC Elite 64 06G (AK) needs to clinch a berth to the National Championships. The Alaska side secured shutouts in its first two quarterfinal matches before a six-goal outburst helped it win the wildcard pool. Similar performances in Oceanside would put Cook Inlet in a good position to string together some victories.

Strikers Miami FC 07B Elite (FL) and Alliance Fire 06/07B (IN) utilized opposing methods to winning all three of their games in Mesa. Strikers relied on stifling defense, as it conceded just one goal, while Alliance overpowered opponents by scoring 12 times.

In terms of goal-scoring, Alliance was bettered by just one team in December, as Raiders FC 2007 (IL) scored 13 goals to go 2-0-1 and win its quarterfinal group. KC Legends Academy 2006 (KS) also secured two wins and a draw to finish first in its group — indicating how deep the talent will be in this pool in Oceanside.

Meanwhile, Los Angeles Soccer Elite 64 06/07B (CA-S) brings something different to the field in Oceanside — the experience of winning its bracket at the November quarterfinals.  The Cal South compiled a plus-10 goal differential in its three games in Mesa, and its success in the knockout format could prove beneficial when it looks to navigate the champions pool in Oceanside.

Silver Pool

A pair of teams that used high-powered offenses to win all three games at the November quarterfinals will be looking to do more of the same in Oceanside. XL Atletico E64 B07/06 (WA) scored 15 goals in Mesa, as it proved impossible for opposing defenses to contain. Strikers Miami FC Elite 64 06B (FL) were nearly as potent, as the Florida side scored four goals in each of its three quarterfinal victories. Both sides will need to regain its prior form to make it through a strong silver pool in Oceanside.

Wildcard Pool

One of the strongest all-around showings at the November quarterfinals came from Oceanside Breakers Elite 64 06/07B (CA-S), which outscored its opponents, 22-to-1, while going 3-0-0 during the action in Mesa. Now playing on its home turf, the Breakers will be a difficult matchup for any opponent they face in the wildcard pool this weekend.

View Game Schedule

The National League Semifinals will feature boys and girls teams in the 14U through 19U age groups. The girls will play May 2-4, and the boys will play May 3-6. All games in Oceanside will be played at the SoCal Sports Complex.

The teams playing in Oceanside each earned their place in the event through their performance at National League Quarterfinals earlier this season. At the semifinals, teams will be competing for a chance to advance to the 2025 USYS National Championships, presented by New York Life, as each gender will see six teams per age group qualify for Nationals during the event.

“We just completed the first semifinal event — filled with excitement and high-level, meaningful games — and now we cannot wait for more of the top National League teams to come together in Oceanside,” said Marc Frankland, USYS National League General Manager. “This is a truly unique competition in the youth soccer landscape, featuring both club-based and team-based competitors, and having spots to the National Championships on the line adds even more excitement to the event’s atmosphere.”

In addition to the gameplay, the National League is working with Exact Sports to host college coach panels that provide insider tips about the recruiting process straight from college coaches. There will be four total panels — two focused on women’s soccer and two focused on men’s soccer — on Saturday, May 3. The women’s college panels will take place at 10:30 a.m. and 1 p.m., while the men’s college panels will take place at 3:15 p.m. and 5:15 p.m.

The action in California will include teams representing 30 different USYS State Associations, led by Cal South with 50 teams. Florida has the second-most teams with 22, followed by Utah with 15. The field of competing teams will feature three defending USYS National Champions looking to get one step closer to defending their titles.

Teams playing in Oceanside are divided into pools within each age group, with pool placement based on performance from the quarterfinal events earlier this season. The Champions Pool features the top-performing teams, followed by the Silver Pool and then the Wildcard Pool. Visit the event homepage to view a breakdown of the pools.

The semifinals feature a primarily tournament/bracket style schedule. In Oceanside, all age groups will see four teams qualify for the National Championships directly from the Champions Pool. The Silver Pool will qualify one team to the National Championships, and the Wildcard Pool will qualify one team to the National Championships. Qualification criteria may vary in certain age groups with fewer total teams.

Teams that qualify for the National Championships during play in Oceanside will join the teams that punched their ticket to Nationals during the first semifinal in Round Rock, Texas. Together, they’ll make up the 120 National League representatives at this summer’s National Championships.

An undefeated showing by Columbus United G11 Lions (OH) at the December Quarterfinals included a plus-nine goal differential by way of 10 goals scored and only one allowed. Three convincing wins for Saints 11B Blue Premier (OR) at the December Quarterfinals has the Oregon side positioned well with Round Rock in its sights. All three victories were shutouts, and the Saints added nine goals throughout the weekend in Mesa, too.

Ponys F.C. 2011 (IL) also won its group in December amid some tough competition. The Illinois side went 2-1-0 and saved its biggest win for last, so they are rounding into form at the right time. Rhode Island Surf B11 Elite Blue (RI) lost a close game to Ponys during their first group play match in Mesa and finished just behind them on goal differential. Surf picked up two shutout victories to close the event, so they will have something to prove this week.

Never count out Cedar Stars Academy Elite 64 11B (NJ). The New Jersey side completed an improbable four-goal comeback in the champions pool final at the January Quarterfinals and will still be riding that momentum in Round Rock. No lead is safe against them.

Toca FC 06/07G Elite (KS) and TKO Premier SC 06/07G Blue (MI) also came out on top of their respective groups, and close results for the two Midwest teams may mean exciting games in Round Rock.

USYS National League introduces new event formats

Updated competition structures will begin in the 2025-26 season;
The National League Cup to debut in Spring 2026

PDF: Event FOrmat Details

FRISCO, Texas (Feb. 7, 2025) – The US Youth Soccer National League is excited to announce updated event formats that will begin in the 2025-26 season, including the introduction of The National League Cup.

Over the past six months, US Youth Soccer established a National League working group that reviewed a survey conducted by the National League of all its clubs and teams. The feedback from the teams, college coaches and club leaders led to the formation of new event structures that meet the needs of the youth soccer landscape. The new National League event structures were developed with a focus on simplifying the competition formats, elevating the level of play, and maintaining advancement opportunities that adapt to future evolutions to the overall US Youth Soccer competitions.

The changes result in two national competition formats within the National League — updated Winter Events and The National League Cup (The NL Cup).

“The US Youth Soccer National League is committed to introducing new event formats designed to enhance competition, provide meaningful development opportunities, and create the best possible experience for players, teams and clubs,” USYS Chief Soccer Officer Tom Condone said. “These innovative formats will elevate the level of play while maintaining a clear pathway for advancement within the evolving landscape of youth soccer.”

WINTER EVENTS

The National League Winter Events are a modification to simplify the current structure of quarterfinal events and semifinal events. As with the current event structure, the winter events will provide teams with an opportunity to earn their place into the summer’s USYS National Championships, presented by New York Life.

Winter events will be open to National League teams in the 14U-19U Boys and Girls age groups, with competing teams selected via an application process. Within each age group, 40 total teams will be split among two events, and each team will play in one event.

At each event, teams will be divided into five groups of four, and each team will play its three group opponents over three days. Teams that finish in first place in their four-team group will advance to the USYS National Championships as a National League representative.

Additionally, teams that finish in second place in their four-team group at the winter events will earn a spot into The NL Cup at the end of that season.

The newly formatted winter events will kick off in November 2025 and January 2026, during the winter portion of the 2025-26 seasonal year.

THE NL CUP

This new, streamlined competition format will offer teams the opportunity of a postseason competition and will be exclusive to National League teams, highlighting the top competition in the league. Qualification will take place on a same-season basis, with teams earning placement directly from their performance in regular season league competition.

“Over 75 percent of National League club leaders indicated they wanted a league cup established, and many aspects of The NL Cup format highlight factors that club leaders rated as very important,” said Marc Frankland, National League General Manager. “We are very excited about this new competition desired by a majority of our clubs, which gives teams advancement opportunities into a true National League postseason.”

Winners of National League Tier 1 Divisions, in both club-based and team-based leagues, will earn automatic qualification into The NL Cup. The remaining spots in The NL Cup will be filled by the teams that qualify for the competition through their performance at the winter events.

The first stage of The NL Cup — The NL Cup Playoffs — will feature four events and take place in late May or June.

At each playoff event, eight boys teams and eight girls teams in their respective 13U-19U age group will compete in a group play format with three games over three days. Each age group will have two groups of four teams, with the winner of each four-team group advancing to The NL Cup Finals.

The NL Cup Finals will feature eight teams — the two group winners from each of the four playoff events — in each of the 13U-19U age groups for both boys and girls. Teams will play three games in three days in a bracket format, where games progress from quarterfinals to semifinals to the finals — in which The NL Cup champions will be determined.

The NL Cup will debut in Spring 2026 at the end of the 2025-26 seasonal year.

BEHIND THE CHANGES

The updates to the National League’s event structures stemmed from deliberate consideration of feedback provided by club directors, coaches, players, parents and college coaches.

A collaboration between USYS staff and the USYS National League working group — which includes representatives from youth clubs, USYS State Associations, the USYS Board of Directors and USYS staff — allowed the new event structures to be developed with input and attention from all involved.

What they’re saying:

“The transformation of the USYS National League events creates a fantastic environment for players, families, and college coaches. This evolution provides a competitive atmosphere with multiple advancement opportunities and recruitable moments. This will truly be the best of the best of individual teams competing for The NL Cup and advancing to the USYS National Championships. I am excited and honored to be a part of the future of National League and US Youth Soccer.”
Jonathan Berzins | Arizona Soccer Association & NL Working Group Chair

“We are excited about both the evolution of the National League and the introduction of The National League Cup. It represents a great opportunity within the National League platform and allows our members to compete against some of the best teams in the country. Pairing this high level of competition with an increased focus on college exposure will be very beneficial to all.”
Brian Waltrip | Los Angeles Soccer Club

“We are very excited for the transformation of National League winter events and the addition of The National League Cup.  These events expose our teams and players to a high level of soccer while giving them opportunities to play against some of the top National League teams in the country.”
Catey Stewart | Charlotte Soccer Academy

“The new USYS National League event platforms provide an incredible opportunity for our players to compete at the highest level, gain national exposure, and develop both on and off the field. The existing and new platforms will continue to create an environment where talent is challenged, growth is encouraged, and college and professional pathways are made more accessible. At Cedar Stars Academy, we are proud to be part of a system that truly prioritizes player development and provides the tools necessary for long-term success.”
Kieran Patrick | Cedar Stars Academy North

“With this evolution of the National League and the introduction of the new National League Cup, these opportunities carve out something truly special in the crowded youth soccer landscape — a real promotion system through BOTH team and club-based platforms, where participation in it is determined by performance on the field, not by the name on your jersey. Whether you’re from a major club or a local community-based organization, if your team is strong and your on-field performance deems you worthy, you can earn your spot in the National League or National League Cup to compete against other great teams from throughout the county. These adjustments reduce travel and costs for families, foster more meaningful local competitions, and give successful teams the opportunity to compete in national events, which is the model most clubs are looking for in youth soccer today.”
Chris Jamrozy | Illinois Youth Soccer

“The new USYS National League events format creates a true ‘#EarnYourPlace’ platform for both our club based, and team-based leagues. By creating a more regional model, we have attained our goal of reducing costs and placing more emphasis on the importance of league play for advancement. The new platform is also created with flexibility, so that we can continue to grow the events and genuinely provide a championship atmosphere for the deserving and a truly recruitable competition regionally and nationally. I am excited to see the platform in its current form, see what it will become in the near and distant future!”
Joe Burger | Kansas Youth Soccer

Schedule announced for 2025 NL Semifinals in Round Rock

FRISCO, Texas (Jan. 24, 2025) — The game schedule is now available for the USYS National League Semifinals taking place Feb. 21-25 in Round Rock, Texas.

View Game Schedule

The National League Semifinals will feature boys and girls teams in the 14U through 19U age groups. The girls will play Feb. 21-23, and the boys will play Feb. 22-25. The games in Round Rock will be played at Old Settlers Park.

The teams playing in Round Rock each earned their place in the event through their performance at National League Quarterfinals earlier this season. At the semifinals, teams will be competing for a chance to advance to the 2025 USYS National Championships, presented by New York Life, as each gender will see six teams per age group qualify for Nationals during the event.

“All of the teams preparing to compete in Round Rock showed their abilities through strong performances at the quarterfinals, and we cannot wait for the best of the National League to come together to play meaningful, high-level games,” said Marc Frankland, USYS National League General Manager. “This is a truly unique competition in the youth soccer landscape, featuring both club-based and team-based competitors, and having spots to the National Championships on the line will only add to the excitement.”

The action in Texas will include teams representing 32 different USYS State Associations, led by Michigan with 29 teams. The field of competing teams will feature five defending USYS National Champions looking to get one step closer to defending their titles.

Teams playing in Round Rock are divided into pools within each age group, with pool placement based on performance from the quarterfinal events earlier this season. The Champions Pool features the top-performing teams, followed by the Silver Pool and then the Wildcard Pool. Visit the event homepage to view a breakdown of the pools.

The semifinals feature a primarily tournament/bracket style schedule. In Round Rock, all age groups will see four teams qualify for the National Championships directly from the Champions Pool. The Silver Pool will qualify one team to the National Championships, and the Wildcard Pool will qualify one team to the National Championships. Qualification criteria may vary in certain age groups with fewer total teams.

The remaining National Championship qualifiers from the National League will be determined during the National League Semifinals in May in Oceanside, Calif.

MESA, Ariz. (Jan. 21, 2025) — Five exciting days of action at the USYS National League Quarterfinals in Mesa, Ariz., saw 45 boys teams qualify for the February 2025 National League Semifinals, while six sides claimed titles as the winners of the champions pool in their age group.

This January quarterfinals featured primarily teams from Elite 64, the top club-based platform in the USYS National League. The Jan. 17-21 action took place at Arizona Athletic Grounds and featured more than 160 boys teams across the 13U-19U age groups.

For the 14U-19U age groups, the quarterfinals represent the first of two stages of National League events, which provide every competing team with a pathway to ultimately advance to the USYS National Championships, presented by New York Life. The 45 teams that earned advancement to the next stage — the National League Semifinals — will play Feb. 22-25 in Round Rock, Texas, for a chance to qualify to the National Championships.

“It’s very fun playing in this environment,” City SC Utah Elite 64 09B (UT) midfielder Nash Lassig said after his team clinched a spot in the National League Semifinals. “You get more experience, like going different places, playing different styles of the game. It feels good to be able to advance. I know we’re very excited to go and play for a spot in Nationals.”

Ten different USYS State Associations saw teams advance to the February semifinals, led by New Jersey with 11 teams. Kansas, Ohio and Wisconsin followed, as they each had six teams advance.

In addition to earning a place in the semifinals, six teams also won the tournament competition within the champions pool of their respective age groups to claim event titles. Cedar Stars Academy led the way, as it was the lone club to capture multiple champions pool titles this weekend.

PDA Hibernian Elite 64 12B (NJ) coach James Angiolino said his team earned valuable experience into learning how to play on the road in different environments and noted that winning their champions pool final in penalties will make the travel home a little sweeter.

“We played teams from Illinois, Utah and the top-ranked team from Kansas today,” Angiolino said. “This is what we want. We want the best competition. We’re not looking for 5-0. We’re looking for 2-1 or 3-2 — that’s what’s going to make our guys better.”

TITLE GAME RECAPS…

13U Boys
PDA Hibernian Elite 64 12B’s (NJ) furious second half comeback propelled its 2-2 (3-0 PK) win over Toca FC 12B Elite 64 (KS) in the 13U Boys champions pool final. George Wallace put Toca in front in the fifth minute, and Levi Hayes doubled the lead just six minutes later to give the Kansas side firm control throughout the rest of the first half. An impassioned halftime speech amongst PDA set the stage for the rest of this game, though. The New Jersey side put on a full-out attack and was rewarded when Dominic Multari’s 39th-minute goal brought his team within one. PDA continued to ramp up the pressure and ultimately found the equalizer in the 52nd minute from Bennett Cucchiara, sending the two teams to penalties. In the shootout, PDA keeper Matthew Angiolino saved all three of Toca’s kicks to drive his New Jersey side to a win.

14U Boys
An improbable comeback for Cedar Stars Academy Elite 64 11B (NJ) in the 14U Boys champions pool final stunned Toca FC 11B Elite 64 (KS) and those watching. The Kansas side got out to a dominant start behind two quick goals from Tristan Zimmermann and Emyr Vargas and then added to its lead in the 27th minute once more with a Tripp Walters goal. Down by three, Cedar Stars took complete control of the game the rest of the way to fuel its storybook win. Kaleb Kelly put his team on the scoreboard just before halftime, and Lucas Donnelly added a second just three minutes into the second half to cut the deficit to one. Cedar Stars continued to create chances and found the leveler in the 51st minute behind a Karam Mohd goal. Samuel Kim’s 62nd-minute goal finally put the New Jersey side ahead for the first time and put the finishing touches on an impressive comeback.

15U Boys
Osiel Magana Nieves and MI Rangers FC Elite 64 10B (MI) proved too much to handle for in-state foe Michigan Tigers Elite 64 10B (MI) in the 15U Boys final. Nieves wasted no time getting his name on the scoresheet, scoring the game’s opening goal in the third minute. The Tigers leveled the game shortly after, but Nieves’ determination was more than they could handle. He added two more before the 32nd minute to cap off a first-half hat trick, and Massimo Mancini added the Rangers’ fourth in the 74th minute to cap off a decisive win in the champions pool title game.

16U Boys
A strong defensive performance helped lead Galaxy SC 09B Elite 64 (IL) over City SC Utah Elite 64 09B (UT), 1-0, in the 16U champions pool final. The Illinois side was no stranger to grinding out games after needing to overcome a scoreless penalty shootout to reach the final, so they were up for another test. Galaxy took the lead in the 38th minute off a Gavin Brown goal and stifled all City SC Utah chances from there to earn another hard-fought win.

17U Boys
A back-and-forth 17U Boys final required penalties to decide the winner, as Steel City FC Elite 64 08B (PA-W) outlasted PDA Hibernian Elite 64 08B (NJ) to claim the champions pool title. PDA grabbed an 18th-minute lead behind a Jayden Maxwell goal, but Steel City responded just 10 minutes later when Nicholas Niebauer slid his shot inside the right post to level the score. Both sides generated chances across the final hour of gameplay but a winning goal never developed. Steel City keeper Mason Smith made a key save in the shootout, and Sean Regan netted the deciding penalty to help the PA West side secure the title.

19U Boys
Cedar Stars Academy Elite 64 06/07B (NJ) scored two late goals to fuel a 2-2 (5-3 PK) comeback win against Toca FC 07B Elite 64 (KS) in the 19U Boys champions pool final. Toca opened the scoring when Bernardo Dickmann found the back of the net in the 26th minute, and the Kansas side doubled its lead in the 62nd minute with a goal from Kevin De Andrade. Cedar Stars continued to work the ball around the field and finally broke through the organized Toca defense in the 76th minute, when Raymond Diouf followed up his own attempt and knocked the rebound into an open net. Just minutes later, Amadou Hann converted a penalty kick to level the game and send the teams to a penalty kick shootout. In the shootout, Alpha Bah converted the final penalty for Cedar Stars to help the New Jersey side win the final.
